Spurs defender ruled out for start of season

Tottenham Hotspur have announced that Juan Foyth will miss the start of the new season due to injury.

The 20-year-old central defender picked up a thigh injury in the behind closed doors friendly win against Brentford on Saturday and did not travel with the rest of the Tottenham squad for the tour of the USA.
The injury is unfortunately bad timing for Foyth who could have played regularly on the tour due to Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld and Eric Dier all rested following their involvement in the World Cup, instead Cameron Carter-Vickers is likely to get more game time against AS Roma, Barcelona and AC Milan.
The former Estudiantes player is held in high regard by Mauricio Pochettino and it now looks as if he will have to be patient to wait for his opportunity.
