Spurs facing yet another delay to the opening of the new stadium

Spurs are facing a further delay to the opening of their new stadium due to difficulties in staging test events over the Christmas period.

According to The Times, Tottenham had planned to hold two test events in advance of a planned opening date for the visit of Manchester United in the Premier League on January 13th.

The report claims that Tottenham had pencilled in two test event dates of Sunday 30th December and Sunday 6th January which are required to be held before the stadium can gain a safety certificate.

However, the club are facing issues with the first proposed test date due to issues with policing and staffing over Christmas and in the lead up to New Year.

This Sunday, 6,000 season ticket holders will attend a fan familiarisation event within the south stand area of the stadium but the event which takes on Sunday will not count towards the club’s aim of securing the safety certificate that they require before they can hold a competitive fixture at the stadium.
