Spurs player says he is happy at the club despite lack of game time this season

When asked if he is happy at Spurs, Oliver Skipp has thrown a subtle hint about his future stating that all he can do is try to take the opportunities that come his way.

Skipp has struggled to get starts under Ange Postecoglou, with the Tottenham academy graduate mostly being restricted to just cameos off the bench all season.

There has understandably been a lot of speculation over his future, with some reports suggesting that he could follow Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg out of the door this summer as the North London club scour the market for a new number six (Football.London).

The midfielder spoke to Tottenham’s official channel after the club’s post-season friendly against Newcastle on Wednesday and he provided what some might read as a hint about his future.

Oliver Skipp will continue to work hard at Tottenham

In the interview, the 23-year-old admitted that it was great to play in front of passionate Spurs fans in Australia and praised the impressive first-half display that his teammates delivered at the famous Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Skipp insisted that despite the difficult end to the season, there are now some ‘building blocks’ in place ahead of Ange Postecoglou’s second season in charge.

When asked if he is happy with the minutes he has got this season, the midfielder sheepishly responded: “Yeah… You can only try and take the opportunities when you get them and that’s what I’ve been looking to do.”

This reads like someone who is frustrated with his lack of involvement, which you would expect, given Skipp’s struggles to get into the team next season. I would not be surprised if the Tottenham academy graduate asks to leave the club this summer.
