Spurs show their support towards the Black Lives Matter campaign

Tottenham Hotspur have shown their public support for the Black Lives Matter campaign on Twitter.

This comes following the death of American, George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

A video showing a police officer continuing to kneel on Floyd’s neck even after he pleaded he could not breathe sparked outrage when it emerged a week ago.

The tweet, which includes the hashtag #blacklivesmatter, is the latest addition to the support shown from Premier League clubs towards the movement.

Various Spurs players have also taken to their personal social media accounts to show their support for the Black Lives Matter campaign.

Notably, Jan Vertonghen posted on his Instagram: “It’s not white vs black. It’s everyone vs racists.” (Yardbarker)

The Belgian also slammed an Instagram user who suggested: “Racism works both ways.” To which Vertonghen replied: “Your brains don’t.”

Spurs join clubs including Liverpool in supporting the movement who yesterday, showed their support through taking to a knee in the style of former-NFL player, Colin Kaepernick. (Daily Mail).
