Spurs star urges ‘the people upstairs’ to sort out Eriksen’s contract

Danny Rose has urged Tottenham Hotspur officials to try and do everything they can to persuade Christian Eriksen to sign a new contract at the club.

The Dane is out of contract at the end of next season and is currently stalling on a new deal, with Real Madrid said to be one of a number of clubs interested in signing him (Express).

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino said after the 1-0 win against Brighton on Tuesday night that Eriksen is open to extending his stay in North London and there will be time for discussions after the season has ended.

Rose praised the impact which Eriksen has on the team and wants the club to build upon the current potential that exists within the squad which has seen them reach the semi final of the Champions League.

The left-back says that that the likes of Daniel Levy must be trusted to do what it takes to take the club forward.

He told The Sun when asked about Eriksen’s contract situation: “It is vital. When Christian does not play, people question whether we look the same.

“He links everything up for us and it is a pleasure to play with him. He is such a hard worker and so creative — I hope he does sign.

“We have got the foundations but it is not just the foundations that attract players, or make players want to stay, or want to sign.

“We have got a great base now. We just have to trust that the people upstairs are going to do whatever they see fit to make that next step.”
