Tottenham will have first refusal on signing West Brom striker Saido Berahino, 22, in the summer following talks between Spurs chairman Daniel Levy and Baggies owner Jeremy Peace.

The Sunday People claim that the two are understood to have thrashed out a gentlemen’s agreement over Berahino after Peace put the block on any move for the England Under-21 international during last month’s transfer window.

We all remember Berahino’s famous Twitter rant after being not allowed to move to White Hart Lane last summer and he could now get his wish at the end of the current campaign.

The Baggies rejected a £24million cash bid from Newcastle United just before the window closed and Spurs will have to match any bids from any other potential suitors when the widow reopens.

Relations between Spurs and West Brom have improved following the decision to loan Alex Pritchard to Tony Pulis’ side.

  1. No! we should look elsewhere. We needed to buy him in January to help win the Title. West Brom. have messed us around. They are likely to do so again. Our Scouts should be out now looking for 2 Strikers to sign at the end of this season, so as to fit in with the Team, in the pre season friendlies. Spurs had control of the game against Watford but could only score one goal. Spurs need to sort out their corners, never a threat on opposition goal.

  2. Not convinced. Price is too high for a player not really tried and tested…. and why pay so much for a player who will essentially wait in the wings? I also wonder if he is the kind of ego that could potentially unbalance a squad which seems very united in every way. And why introduce new blood when Son and other forwards have yet to be used to their potential? Let Newcastle take the risk.

  3. Berehino not a happy chappie at Wes Brom. If he combines with Harry Kane we will have an awesome attack, cause he's good for 20+ goals a season. Forget this season so far – his mindset not right. I hope Spurs make an effort in sumner to acquire him.
