Tottenham Hotspur are to begin talks with Eidur Gudjohnsen over a permanent move.

The striker spent the second half of last season on loan at White Hart Lane from Monaco and both Harry Redknapp and the player have previously expressed their desire to link up permanently.

Gudjohnsen made 13 appearances for Spurs last season, scoring two goals which came against Stoke City and Fulham.

  1. He’d better work a hell of a lot harder than he did last season. At times he strolled around the pitch like he was on holiday. Undoubtly talented but questionable work effort.

  2. Personally I think this will be a good signing. I doubt he will be our out and out striker but he plays the hole between opposition midfield and defence pretty well and he can pick a pass at least unlike Jenas!

  3. I agree with BristolYid. But Jim is also correct that he has never been anywhere near prolific – but that is not the point with Eidur.

Good thing your not the flaming manager! Eidur had just got to the prem from the french league and his fitness needed to pick up with the Prem. End of the day he is strong and clever with the ball and is also extremely useful for keeping hold of the ball in the last 20/30 mins when we need to close the match. Note: Gudjohnson was Mourinho's fav player at Chelsea.

    • Are you his mum? Making excuses for him. If he wasn’t fit enough he shouldn’t have played. Thank go you’re not the manager. Letting players get away with half-hearted effort.

  5. Did you go to any games last season Bristol Yid? I saw plenty of games featuring Eidur and I can honestly say this will be a very good signing. What Eidur brought to the team was alot of experience and composure – something that was much needed whenever we were hanging on with 15 mins to go. He linked up very well with Modric and between the two of them, they worked well on retaining possession with neat and tidy passing. He is also still a threat up front.

  6. too old. spend it on a quality striker instead.hes lazy.remember mido?gr8 loaan season, then wrecked it when we signed him

  7. He is what we need as a super sub, upfront ,just behind striker, and in the middle, not many players of his calibre will sit on the bench like he has for us.

  8. I watched all games he played last season and he aint nothing special… Maybe its a case of a player with lots of experience, decent footballing brain and very happy to be a bit part player? Generally though very unimpressed last season… Anyone seen the Vital Spurs comments – reckon they all have little Gud statues under their pillows….?????
