Stellini names two Spurs academy youngsters who could get minutes this season

In his latest press conference, Tottenham Hotspur caretaker manager Cristian Stellini has revealed that both Alfie Devine and Romaine Mundle could be set to get some minutes in the first team before the end of the season.

Stellini is in charge of first team affairs at Tottenham for the next nine games, after the departure of Antonio Conte.

He is being aided by coach Ryan Mason, a former youth player at Spurs.

With Tottenham fighting for a place in the top four and with it, Champions League qualification, there is still plenty to play for this season.

Stellini will only be able to call on the players he inherited from Conte’s time at the club, but the manager appears to be looking at other solutions to help freshen up the team and cover for the injury problem at Spurs right now.

Sky Sports News recently reported that Stellini had called up eight academy players to the first team at Tottenham, with Alfie Devine and Romaine Mundle among them.

Now, it seems those two players could be given a chance soon.

Stellini told Football.London: “We have some good young players who are ready to play.

“Alfie, Romaine and players that we trust to play part of the match or all of them.”

Devine has played just two minutes of first team football this season, appearing as a substitute in the FA Cup tie against Portsmouth earlier this year (Transfermarkt).

Mundle is yet to make his senior debut for Spurs, but has a wealth of experience among the North London club’s youth teams.

Spurs Web Opinion

This is what we like to hear.

Sure, we’ve got to give it everything and try to finish in the top four, but now is a great chance to allow our younger players to play in big games and prove themselves, too.

I’d love to see Devine and Mundle getting some action.
