Striker snubbed Spurs for Championship club

Swansea City striker Joel Asoro has revealed that he turned down a move to Tottenham Hotspur in order to join the Championship club.

The Swedish Under-21 international made the summer switch from joined the Swans from Sunderland on a four-year deal and after decided against progressing discussions with Tottenham after offering no assurances about playing time.
Assoro scores three goals in twenty seven appearances for the Black Cats in two seasons. Why he thinks he can have promises about playing in our first team are just staggering, although you have to give credit to the boy for wanting to play regular first team football rather than taking a wage.
“We sat talking to Tottenham and they said they could not promise anything about playing time,” he said. “Then I felt I could not make that choice.”

He added: “It does not hurt to have higher pay, but I thought more about playing.

“If I want to compete seriously while playing with the U21 national team, I need to play in my club team as well.”
