Team News: Cristian Stellini says two injured Spurs stars trained this week

Cristian Stellini has provided a team news update to journalists who have attended Tottenham Hotspur’s pre-Newcastle United press conference from Hotspur Way this afternoon.

The Italian is continuing his duties by fronting the press conference in his temporary role of acting head coach following the departure of Antonio Conte late last month.

It has been yet another turbulent week for Tottenham after it was confirmed earlier today that Fabio Paratici has decided to resign from his position of managing director of football with immediate effect after his appeal against his two-and-half year global ban from football was rejected.

Such is the protocol, the media are informed of the availability of the Spurs squad ahead of the clash against Eddie Howe’s high fliers.

Spurs trail the Magpies by three points having played a game more than Newcastle but could move back into fourth with a win at St James’ Park.

Stellini told Football.London that Ben Davies is close to a return but not yet ready to play while Clement Lenglet should be able to train with the group tomorrow following his knock.

He said: “We have Ben Davies back in training, in part of the training so maybe not ready to play yet.

“Clement Lenglet is so so. We are trying to have him 100%. He trained. We are confident that tomorrow that he can train for a full session with the group rather than being apart.”
