Team News: Two ruled out for the visit of Brighton, one player returns to training

Tottenham have provided a team news update to the media in attendance at today’s press conference at Hotspur Way.

Due to the Christmas period, the media have congregated early at Tottenham’s training ground ahead of their Premier League Boxing Day fixture against Brighton in North London.

Jose Mourinho will also be in attendance to answer questions from the press pack, less than 24 hours on from the disappointing 2-0 defeat to former club Chelsea which saw them pass up the opportunity to go fourth in the table.

As expected club captain Hugo Lloris is still ruled out with the elbow injury which he sustained against Brighton, while left-back Ben Davies is undergoing rehabilitation after suffering ankle ligament damage at West Ham last month.

Erik Lamela has not featured for Spurs since he scored in the 5-0 win against Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League on 22nd October due to a hamstring problem. However, it has now been confirmed that the Argentine has returned to training.

There were no reports of any injuries sustained during the loss to Chelsea as confirmed by The Athletic’s Tottenham Hotspur correspondent, Charlie Eccleshare. Spurs previously had three players ruled out for the visit of Chelsea (Spurs official).
