Former Chelsea and Blackburn Rovers striker Chris Sutton believes that Tottenham Hotspur look ‘miles off’ competing for the Premier League title.
Sutton, who lifted the trophy during his time at Blackburn now works as a football pundit and certainly did not hold back his opinion after watching Mauricio Pochettino’s side lose 1-0 to Manchester City.
The defeat at Wembley means that Tottenham are in fifth place in the league and are already five points behind both City and Liverpool.
Frustratingly, it was yet another defensive gaffe which ended up costing Tottenham once again. This time it was Kieran Trippier who found himself unable to deal with a long ball from Ederson which led to Riyad Mahrez bagging the only goal of the game after just six minutes
Sutton also suggested that if Spurs are unable to progress in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, yet more negative attention will be thrown onto Pochettino and his players.
He told BBC Radio 5 Live: “This isn’t a confident Tottenham side. It is just not clicking.
“If Spurs go out of the League Cup in midweek with a limp against West Ham, there will be more questions asked.
“Do this team look like pushing for the title? They look miles off.”
