Tottenham confirm goalkeeper has signed contract extension

Tottenham Hotspur have announced that Brandon Austin has signed a new contract at the club.

The 20-year-old goalkeeper, who has come up through the academy ranks has put pen to paper on a new deal which will keep him in North London until 2022.

After club captain Hugo Lloris suffered a dislocated elbow in the 3-0 defeat to Brighton earlier in the season, the Frenchman’s place as number one was taken by Paulo Gazzaniga.

Spurs also moved to re-sign experienced stopper Michel Vorm, the Dutchman had previously left the club at the end of last season on a free after his contract expired.

Vorm recently suffered a calf injury in training which has kept him sidelined and allowed Austin to take his place on the bench.

Austin has appeared as Gazzaniga’s understudy on four occasions in the Premier League and also for the 5-0 win against Olympiacos in the Champions League at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (transfermarkt).
