Tottenham face Wembley clash; another stadium could be required

Sky Sports are reporting that Tottenham Hotspur may have to seek an alternative venue for their Premier League home fixture against Manchester City on October 28th.

Tottenham revealed yesterday evening that they have had to postpone the official stadium opening and switch the fixtures against Liverpool on September 15th and the following home game against Cardiff City on October 6th to Wembley stadium after recent testing revealed “critical safety system” issues.

Wembley is already scheduled to host the NFL match between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Philadelphia Eagles on the same date as Spurs will face Manchester City which poses a huge problem for Spurs, should the new stadium not be ready by then.

Sky believe that Tottenham have three potential options available:-

  • Reverse the fixture
  • Reschedule the fixture and play if 24 hours earlier at Wembley
  • Find a completely different stadium

Things just continue to get even more complicated, a third venue would really tip Tottenham fans over the edge.
