Transfer target tells team-mates he wants Spurs switch

Jack Grealish has told his Aston Villa team-mates that he wants to complete a move to Tottenham Hotspur, according to the Daily Mail.

The midfielder has been linked with a move to Mauricio Pochettino’s side for what feels like since the final ball of last season was kicked, but a move has yet to materialise.

Depending on what report you read, one reason why a move has yet to happen is due to the fact that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy was hoping to take advantage of Villa’s financial woes with a cut-price deal, but since then the Championship side’s owner Tony Xia has steadied the ship by selling a majority stake in the club to billionaire’s Wes Edens and Nassef Sawiris.

Villa have previously insisted that the midfielder will not be sold on the cheap, with a deal for £20m said to be ready to be lodged by Tottenham, whereas Villa are holding out for £35m.

The reality is that there are just 11 days until the transfer window closes and we are yet to strengthen our squad, we are hardly giving any new additions much time to adapt to their new surroundings before we kick off against Newcastle United on August 11th.
