Jack Grealish has told his Aston Villa team-mates that he wants to complete a move to Tottenham Hotspur, according to the Daily Mail.

The midfielder has been linked with a move to Mauricio Pochettino’s side for what feels like since the final ball of last season was kicked, but a move has yet to materialise.

Depending on what report you read, one reason why a move has yet to happen is due to the fact that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy was hoping to take advantage of Villa’s financial woes with a cut-price deal, but since then the Championship side’s owner Tony Xia has steadied the ship by selling a majority stake in the club to billionaire’s Wes Edens and Nassef Sawiris.

Villa have previously insisted that the midfielder will not be sold on the cheap, with a deal for £20m said to be ready to be lodged by Tottenham, whereas Villa are holding out for £35m.

The reality is that there are just 11 days until the transfer window closes and we are yet to strengthen our squad, we are hardly giving any new additions much time to adapt to their new surroundings before we kick off against Newcastle United on August 11th.

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. Not sure where these reports come from but Jack Grealish told Villa fans after the friendly against Walsall that he wanted to stay at Villa. Fake news from bad Cockney Media!

  2. Whether he wants to go or not, if the valuation is £35m that’s what will have to be paid, in any case I wouldn’t believe what is being said on social media I would want to hear it from Grealish himself

    • Crap. He’s only 22 and where he is at the moment he needs game time….not benchwarming. He can play the long game in his career and can afford 1 or 2 seasons playing regularly in the Championship for the third richest owners in the country. Would be a mistake to join the Spuds, not get games and still continue to win nothing ;)

  3. I don’t understand these people just wanting to buy any old donkey at any price, they’re worse than my kids!! Buy buy buy, now now now ???

  4. Sad that Grealish is all we can aspire to in this window.

Waiting for the Ali and Erikson’ like new signing ‘announcements to provide a smokescreen over Levys failed transfer policy.

  5. …aand all Levy has to do in the first instance is stump up £40m and then wait and see if there is any truth in this drivel…other than that he can go polish his shekels…..
