Andros Townsend has claimed that Harry Kane is the best striker in world football and has ranked his former team-mate ahead of some illustrious competition.
The Crystal Palace winger came through the Tottenham academy ranks at the same time as Kane and the pair went on to play together in the first team before Townsend left North London for Newcastle United.
Townsend has watched Kane become one of the most prolific forwards in the world and believes that he is ahead of the likes of Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski and Karim Benzema of Real Madrid with his prowess in front of goal.
He claimed that if Lewandowski and Benzema made the move to the Premier League they would fail to hit the numbers which Kane has managed to do on a consistent basis and revealed that Kane’s mentality will see the England captain have his heart set on breaking Alan Shearer’s top flight goalscoring record.
