Video: Ex-Liverpool player claims manager wouldn’t have answered phone to Spurs or Arsenal

Former Liverpool defender Glenn Johnson has claimed that Steven Gerrard would have snubbed the managerial position at Tottenham Hotspur or Arsenal.

Gerrard is currently in charge of Glasgow Rangers and has confirmed that he is set to sign a new contract.

He took up the managerial position at the Ibrox outfit in May 2018 and has helped to close the gap on rivals Celtic (BBC).

Johnson believes that while Gerrard would be interested in a return to the Premier League one day, he is focused on building his legacy north of the border and will have his heart set on a return to Liverpool in the future.

The 35-year-old went as far as claiming that Gerrard wouldn’t have even have answered the phone if either North London club had made contact with him.

Spurs sacked Mauricio Pochettino last month while Arsenal are still on the lookout for a new manager after parting company with Unai Emery.
