Video: Harry Redknapp tells Pochettino what he needs to do at Tottenham

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp believes that Mauricio Pochettino must instil the confidence back in his players to start performing again.

Redknapp was speaking following Tottenham’s 3-0 defeat at Brighton which came on the back of a 7-2 loss to Bayern Munich which has been one of the worst few days in the club’s recent history.

The 72-year-old who is known for being a fantastic man manager (Yahoo Sports) to get the best out of his players has urged Pochettino to get his squad together to perform as a team.

Redknapp’s comments were echoed by Peter Crouch, who under Redknapp for Spurs who claimed that his former side never looked like challenging Brighton after conceding the opening goal within the first three minutes.


From the outside looking in, there is obviously a lack of team spirit at the club. Redknapp is right tio highlight that the players need to be given the confidence to perform, whether they still want to play for Pochettino remains to be seen.

Simple answer is that he needs to have a heart to hear with each member of the team and tell them that the players who bring the most passion to the preparation and to listening to his plan will play and the others won’t regardless of talent. For me, Erickson, Alderweirald and Vertonghan have earned trip to the training ground and off the bench. They can wait out the rest of the year without playing time. Bring up some youthful players and mix it up. This season is the start of the rebuild…get to it.
