A past and present Tottenham Hotspur player accidentally combined to help their country find the back of the net.
Spurs summer signing Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg was named in Denmark’s starting eleven for their UEFA Nations League clash in Iceland, while Christian Eriksen captained the side.
Hojbjerg proved to be the creator for Denmark’s second goal of the evening when a shot on goal from an Icelandic player cannoned off the back of the midfielder and fell into the path of Eriksen.
The 28-year-old, who left North London for Inter Milan in January showed a surprising turn of pace to slot the ball home.
The victory means that Denmark have registered their first three points in Group 2 which they also share with England and Belgium.
