Ange Postecoglou has said that he wants to see the Tottenham players ‘lay down some markers’ regarding the style of football they want to play in pre-season.
Spurs took on West Ham United at Perth’s Optus Stadium today in their first official pre-season friendly of the summer, falling to a 3-2 defeat that still held many positive signs.
Postecoglou admitted that there has been a lot of emphasis during training on the type of football he expects from the side and that he is now keen to see that applied in a game scenario.
Postecoglou wants energy and intensity from Spurs
The new Tottenham head coach also described the first few training sessions in Australia as ‘really positive’ and ‘intense’, insisting that he has been surprised by how quickly some of the players have adapted to his methods.

Some players will be better adjusted to Postecoglou’s methods than others, with the non-internationals having trained for two weeks while the international stars have only had a handful of sessions. That could mean that some fringe players get a chance to really surprise and impress.
