When Toby Alderweireld has the ball at his feet and looks up, Tottenham Hotspur fans know that 99 times out of 100 he will play a pin-point perfect pass into the path of one of his teammates.
The Spurs defender is known for his laser-like raking long balls, which have seen the club put together a compilation of some of his passes this season, titled ‘Lord of the Pings’.
The Belgian can turn defence into attack in one pass which is one of the reasons why he is rated so highly. It is still a concern for fans that he will be able to leave the club next summer for a fraction of his true value.
With his contract set to expire at the end of the season, the club exercised their option to extend his contract until 2020, but could risk losing him for £25m in the summer.
Spurs would have to receive that £25m offer from another club 14 or more days before the end of the summer 2019 transfer window.
