Tottenham Hotspur kicked off their pre-season campaign with an emphatic 4-1 demolition of AS Roma in the International Champions Cup in San Diego.

Fernando Llorente and Lucas Moura both bagged a brace during the first 45 minutes of the match which was held at the SDCCU Stadium.   It was also fantastic to see some of our youngster stars in action, including midfielder Luke Amos, who was handed a start.

Tottenham went behind in the opening minutes to Cengiz Under’s strike, but after that there was no dispute of who was in control of the game.

Fernando Llorente pulled Spurs level after he did well to win a header from a deflected Luke Amos cross.

He doubled his tally on 18 minutes to score from close range after Lucas’ volley was stopped by the Roma keeper.

Lucas got in on the goalscoring action with an impressive header, which he put in the back of the net following an excellent cross from right-back Serge Aurier.

The Brazilian rounded off the scoring just before half time with a neat finish into the bottom corner from 16 yards out.

It was a very impressive first display from Tottenham, who will now look to take and build upon this performance against Barcelona.
