(Video) The piece of play which shows Erik Lamela can be a hit at Spurs

Erik Lamela is a player who comes in for a raw deal from some corners of the Tottenham Hotspur support.

It is fair to say that the Argentine has had more than his fair share of injuries since he made the £25.8million move from in 2013 from AS Roma which has seen him miss an outstanding 85 Spurs fixtures with injuries varying from a hip injury to a calf problem.

We have all seen glimpses of Lamela’s ability, notably his famous rabona goal in the Europa League in 2014 to the brace he scored against Leicester City in the final Premier League game of last season.

Lamela was named among the substitutes for yesterday’s 3-1 win against Fulham and was brought on during the 73rd minute in place of Eric Dier.

It took Lamela just five minutes to show his worth, with a beautiful driving run from inside his own half, before taking on five Fulham players and releasing the ball to Harry Kane to score our third of the game.

It is this kind of impact in the final third we have been missing, if we can keep Lamela fit, hopefully he can finally win over the majority of Spurs fans.
