Former England and Tottenham Hotspur striker Gary Lineker, hastold Absolute Radio’s Rock ‘N’ Roll Football, that he thinks Arsenal forward Theo Walcott is not in the same league as Spurs’ winger Gareth Bale, saying: “…Spurs have got Bale and he’s, well people talk about Walcott but he, I don’t think they are quite in the same league personally.”

Lineker praised the Wales international further, admitting he’s starting to remind him of Ronaldo, but claimed Bale “…has not reached his prime yet. If he can keep the consistency
that he’s shown, certainly in 2013, if he can keep that going for a year or two, he’ll be right up there amongst the best handful of players in the world.”

But Gary also claimed Bale needs to stop diving, saying: “…that’s something he probably needs to look at. Messi doesn’t ever dive which is another amazing attribute to him. You know, there are one or two incidents where he’s clearly thrown himself to the ground and then people look for it. There are other occasions where he’s been slightly unfortunate where he’s been blatantly fouled and gone to ground, as you would because I mean he does move so quickly and to be honest every time I shot I nearly, I fell over, my balance was fairly hopeless, but not diving, so, if I were him now I’d try and eradicate that from my game. He just doesn’t need it.”

Absolute Radio’s Rock ‘N’ Roll Football with Ian Wright is on Saturday’s from 5pm on 1215AM
