Watch: Mauricio Pochettino on whether he regrets recalling Kane after Liverpool loss

Mauricio Pochettino has stood by his decision to start Harry Kane in the Champions League final defeat to Liverpool last night at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.

After two months on the sidelines following the significant ankle he suffered in the quarter-final first leg against Manchester City, Kane returned to action in Madrid and looked well below par with a very subdued performance.

Kane took the place of Lucas Moura who had been the hero in the semi-final against Ajax to book the club’s place in the final.

After the match, Pochettino insisted that he did not regret recalling Kane and insisted that there was no concerns about the striker’s fitness.

Opinion

Pochettino would certainly not admit in public if he regretted bringing Kane back into the side but it was evident that the striker was not himself.
