Some Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to share their reaction to the news that Mike Dean will be refereeing today’s Premier League match against Southampton.
Dean clashed with former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino following the defeat at Burnley last season which all but ended our hopes of mounting a title challenge.
Pochettino earned a two match touchline ban along with a £10,000 fine which was deemed “irresponsible and aggressive” by Dean in his account of the incident (talkSPORT).
Following the events at Turf Moor, Dean was been removed as the fourth official for Tottenham’s trip to Chelsea which followed the loss and was instead reallocated to Manchester City’s match against West Ham at the Etihad (Sky Sports).
Some Spurs fans have expressed their displeasure at having Dean as the man in the middle for the match at St Mary’s.
Spurs will be looking to revive their challenge of a top four finish with victory on the south coast.
