‘Window is still open’- Ange Postecoglou on his talk with Harry Kane

Ange Postecoglou has revealed that he had a ‘good chat’ with Harry Kane on the areas that the team can improve for the upcoming season.

Kane’s future continues to be up in the air, with reports indicating that Bayern Munich are not prepared to give up on their pursuit of the Tottenham man (Florian Plettenberg).

Over recent days, it has emerged that Paris Saint-Germain are also making a big effort to sign the 29-year-old during the current window (Gianluca Di Marzio).

However, some publications continue to indicate that Daniel Levy is keen to hold on to his star man and that he has not quoted any price to interested clubs, despite the fact that the player just has 12 months left on his existing contract (90 min).

The Spurs chairman will be hoping that Postecoglou could win Kane over and get the striker excited about what is in store for the new season ahead.

Ange Postecoglou on what he spoke to Harry Kane about

However, the Australian has refused to divulge too much information about his dialogue with the striker so far.

When asked if he had spoken to Kane, the Spurs head coach said (via Football.London): “Question one, eh? I had a good chat with Harry. As I said before (in his first press conference), nothing earth-shattering or defining from I guess what people are seeking.

“Just a good chat. I introduced myself and we spoke mainly about the club and where he thinks it’s at and where he thinks we can improve things. (We’ve been) training ever since, it’s been good.

When asked if he has any indication of whether he has Kane for the season ahead, he added: “Again, I said the discussion wasn’t really about that. It was more about the collective and what we’re doing. Harry’s the same as all the other players, you know. It’s not something I ask when they walk through the door, ‘Have you got a ticket or not?’

“It’s just about as we go along, we’re working hard as a group. Some will be on for the whole journey and others won’t. But a lot of that gets decided along the way. It’s not something that I’m sitting down and demanding from people right from the outset.

“The reality is we have a bit less than a month before the season starts, the transfer window is still open for a while, so we’ll see how it all transpires.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Postecoglou is evidently an excellent communicator and there is no doubt that he would have impressed Kane with his direct and confident messages. However, the striker would have heard similarly positive things from many of Spurs’ recent managerial appointments and it remains to be seen if he has the patience for another project.
