Woodgate pride at performance

Jonathan Woodgate has stated his pride at leading Spurs out for the first time this season in the 9-1 drumming of Wigan on Sunday.
Woodgate was captain in the absence of Ledley King and Robbie Keane and led Spurs to their most emphatic win since the formation of the Premiership.
And Woody claimed he was unsuprised by the goal spree that occurred, having had to face our attacking line-up in training every day.
He told the Spurs official website, “It was a great victory and you couldn’t have got any more out of us. It was a great display throughout the side, especially going forward. It was incredible.
“To be honest, it happens in training. Look at the strikers we’ve got. You’re never suprised because they do it every day.
“At half-time the manager said to us that Wigan had got back in the game and we needed to start pressing again. We did that and got the goals quickly.
“There were games when we didn’t play as well, like against Sunderland, but we still got the points and that’s the sign of a good team.”
But Woodgate is aware that Spurs can’t dwell on the victory, with a big game at Aston Villa coming up at the weekend.
“Every game is important when you are looking to finish in the top four, and staying in the same position as we are in now is what we must aim to do.”

Indeed,we must not rest on our laurels after this fantastic victory against Wigan. There are tough matches ahead. We must continue playing attacking aggressive football, moving around fast to create space and passing intelligently. Our midfield should also be strong and well organised. If we do all that, I am confident we can continue wih our winning spree and maintain our fourth position if not better.
Tottenham will get the points again at Villa. They were not very convincing at Burnley last week and Spurs were super terrific.
We can score and they have Heskey. It would be a good game for Capello to check out.
