Benoit Assou-Ekotto is sure Tottenham fans will give their backing to Emmanuel Adebayor.

Assou-Ekotto insists the Spurs faithful will bury their past dislike of the striker though and give him the backing he needs to score goals for the club.

“I don’t think there will be any trouble with the Spurs fans and Emmanuel,” Assou-Ekotto told skysports.com.

“The fans when they come to the stadium they come to watch football and give their best to the team and I am sure they will support Emmanuel.

“For sure when he used to play for Arsenal the fans did not like him, but for us everyone will love him if he scores 25 goals this season.

“Emmanuel is a great player and I believe he will be a great signing for Spurs this season.”
