Sky Sports pundit Phil Thompson has praised Eidur Gudjohnsen’s impact at Tottenham Hotspur.

The Icelandic striker scored his first goal for the club in the win at Stoke, and followed it up with another in the FA Cup victory against Fulham.

“The injuries are mounting up for Tottenham – thankfully,” Thompson joked on Soccer Saturday.

“In big areas as well. But Gudjohnsen came on, probably frustrated at not having enough starts and he’s a clever player.

“He’s one of them who, especially away from home, will drift into the midfield areas and it’s hard to pick them up. I remember Eric Cantona doing it for so long and Teddy Sheringham.

“It’s hard to pick him up and he can be a link to the front man so it’s not a bad player to have about.”
