Redknapp fears for Tottenham pair

Harry Redknapp says he is concerned about the fitness of defenders Jonathan Woodgate and Ledley King ahead of the new season.

“Jonathan will not be fit for the start of the season,” Spurs boss Redknapp told Sportsweek. “He’s in a position where he can’t train or kick a ball.

“Ledley has come back and his knee is not great and he has a groin problem.”

    If levy or Harry have any common sense they would let Woodgate leave and use his £70000 a week wage on some one else. The bloke has done nothing for us but create headaches. He is never going to ever get fully fit . He will only break down with some other injury. Never known in my life a sportsman take year to get over a muscle injury of some sort. We need capable players if we are to go forward. At least ledley can play some sort of role at the club and the players respect him. Harry go out and get. Wayne Bridge, Ashley young , Craig Bellamy, Huntlear. Job done.
    Sell. Jenas. keano, Bentley, ohara, Hutton , Crouch. Also ekotto if you get Bridge in . Any one object.

      crouch is a top player you cant get rid of him.
      he holds the ball up is obviously good in the air and scores goals.what more do you want from a striker.
      all the others you mentioned apart from ohara i would agree with.
      ohara is still a young player we need players like him in the squad the boy has got ability and bundles of passion and desire.
      jenas i would personally carry out of white hart lane overated tosser.

    These are the breaks Harry….with Woody and King fully fit, we would be serious title contenders, but its not the case. Dawson is class, no problem, but he needs someone along side him who will stay fit and build up an understanding with him and the rest of the defence. Really wish we signed Richard Dunne that time he joined villa. Nevermind Milner or Young, we should be after Dunne. Dont get me wrong, i love King and Woodgate, but im afraid their best days are behind them and that makes me feel gutted. Bassong and Kaboul in a china shop are cover at best, we need a top top centre half to take us forward in the upcoming season, a season that promises so much.

    I've been banging on about this situation for far too long. Instead of chasing players we don't need, in area's that we're probably the strongest, why not look at the defence first?. Full backs left in particular, centre halves definitely, and the defensive midfield where Palacios's form was a major concern. But all we hear about is Cole this and Bellamy that and its driving me insane. Strikers, we can improve upon, but centre halves are a must and we must at least try and get cover for Dawson as Coluka/Kabul are not the answer, anymore than Bales is a full back Harry.
    We're surely in the market for players in those area's aren't we Harry?…Harry!

    How long has it been known that we need cover in defence,Woody has been out for a year for crying out loud and King has not been right for three years although he can play a bit more regularly than Woody.So why were we looking at Joe Cole, great player no doubt but we have greater needs.Our strikers are good but we need one at least that is great,prolific,25 goals a season call it whatever you want but you know what i mean.Milner,Young,Pienar are all bonuses but the defender and striker are a must, right now and if all the media[ lying toe rags at best of times ] are to be believed we seem to be looking at players who play in positions that we are already well served,unless of course milner can be turned into a prolific sriker or Young is a central defender par excellance.

    This is Arry touting for funds for another CB- which in truth isn't needed as priority: sharpening up striker options; 3rd goalie are!! At CB we have: Dawson, Bassong, Kaboul( admittedly he's looked dodgy)- with Corluka & Hudds being able to play there. I am all for Corluka developing with Dawson but only trouble would be lack of pace? But savvy defenders get round this deficiency!
