Redknapp update on Lennon

Harry Redknapp has explained why Aaron Lennon was substituted at half time during Tottenham’s 3-1 win against Shamrock Rovers.

On Lennon, Redknapp said: “Aaron’s okay. He said his groin was a bit stiff and he didn’t feel he could play on but I don’t think it’s too bad. We’ll see when he comes in in the morning.”

    Personally I wasn’t upset he came off at half-time; his touch & lay offs were jenasque & I was shouting come back palacios all is forgiven. This boy needs to buck up- it was great to see townsend, santos but in a good performance. Especially Gio wanting & using the ball well!

      Give the kid a break… He just came back from injury. The one time he got through and put a decent cross in, BOTH strikers elected to go to the near post – instead of one of them – and the cross went over them. That is what he is working with. Plus Lennon is doubled up. Gio and Townsend were left one one defender, and that made them look better.

    I agree with Walis. When was the last time you saw Lennon take on the left back? He gets the ball takes it 2 feet and passes it back or sideways. Unfortunately for Lennon he has nothing else to his game other than taking left /right backs on. He needs some competition and hopefully after last nights showing Dos Santos is that player that is going to push him. Lennon has not been the player from 2 seasons ago and surely he is on borrowed time if he does not start being the player we know he can be.

      First you say " when was the last time you saw Lennon take on the left back? " and then you say that's all he does! He's needing a run of games to get back to where he was but " on borrowed time " ? How fickle fans can be!

    Nice to see Gio put in an extremely rare decent appearance in a competitive game. However it was against men who work in the Magners/Jameson/Guiness factory, so he needs to do that vs Rubin Kazan.

    Gio was fighting for his professional name at WHL last night while Townsend is another Bale in the making. For Gio it was one of those rare opportunities to start and finish a game for the team. He deserves to be with the first team any time, even on Sunday. As for Lennon, it is still early days for any concrete evaluation. When physically fit he still poses a serious threat to any defence on the right or left flanks.

    I think most people had completely given up hope with Dos Santos but last night he had a good game and seemed interested. Took his goal really well and played a part in the other two. Could this be a turning point?

    If you hadn’t seen his name on the sheet you wouldn’t have known he was playing. A lot of the team, Lennon included, made it look as if we were playing a quality European side instead of a bunch of semi-pros. If HR puts out the same team when we play Rubin, then we’re in for a rude awakening. Bassong, Livermore, Pav, Corluka aren’t up to the task. Townsend was the only one who really came out with any credit.

    What is all this negativity about!? We have dominated our games in Europe. Their Keeper had a good game. We had two kids in central midfield and rested nearly all starters for the big game on Sunday. Won the game, job done.

    People really don't give Lennon enough credit. He has been one of our most consistent performers for seasons now. He rarely looses the ball, tracks back and the negative view on his crossing is based on lazy template opinion that was formed over three years ago now. He is just coming back from injury, give him a break for crying out loud! He is ALWAYS doubled up on, and this is to HIS credit. He has missed Big Tom as much as anybody. Huddelstone gets the ball out quickly to our wingers when they ARE one on one. We miss Tom more than people realise.

    You give strikers a break if they don't get the supply they need, why not the same with wingers?

    Lennon is still one of our saviour's on the right flank & will get going once fully recovered ( seemed a bit jaded recently). Dissapointed though that he may not be in Sunday's lineup.
    Both Lennon & Bale do owe the fans a lot more & am hopeful that it will be coming shortly.
