Tottenham are planning talks with midfielder Luka Modric in an effort to ward off transfer bids from Premier League rivals Manchester United and Chelsea.

The Croatian international has three years to run on his existing deal at White Hart Lane and the club are planning to reward him with an improved deal.

Modric is currently not one of the big earners at the club, but they hope fresh terms will help to convince him to ignore interest from United and Chelsea.

Spurs have recently done the same with Gareth Bale and Michael Dawson, following impressive displays during the past season.

He must not be allowed to leave for any amount. We want to build on what we've got, not sell our best to others!
  4. Dilly Crump says:
But always remember he is still under contract anyway and we do not need/have to sell him if we dont want. And we dont want.
  5. Greg says:
Yeah but it's very important for the team spirit and his performances that he actually wants to stay…An improved contract could settle this!

Absolutely imperative we keep the little man at the club.. Hopefully for many years to come. We can't be a feeder club to the elite any longer. We need to compete, not supply!

    Sign him up, Levy.

Yep Modric has to stay! Top four clubs don't sell to each other, and we are a top four club now. Modric has a very important part to play.

Cant see it happening for these reasons. 1st 28million is being quoted, that'll make a poor return on our 17 million. 2nd… still has 4 years of a six year deal to run, and is being offered an extension. 3rd Why sell to not only our London rivals but European ones also? And lastly newspapers talk utter cobblers anyway.
