Watford have signed Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes on a one-year deal.
The Brazilian was released by Spurs following the end of his contract and has agreed terms on a one-year deal at the Championship outfit, with the Hornets having the option on an additional 12 months.
Gomes told the official Watford site: “I came to meet the director and the owner of the club and I feel it’s a club that can reach a high level. I spoke to them and they told me about their ambition – last season the club nearly reached the Premier League and we will try next year again.
“They said that they want to make a strong team, and it’s a very organised club as well, and you can see how they’ve got the ambition to go forward.
“When you’ve got a club who want to win something, who want to reach something, it encourages you so much to sign, and that’s why I’m here.”
