Tottenham target expecting Sevilla departure

Sevilla striker Luis Fabiano admits that he is expecting to leave the club during the summer.

The Brazilian was an unused substitute in Saturday’s 3-2 victory over Almeria and has been linked with an £18million move to Tottenham Hotspur.

The transfer fee seems very high since the 29-year-old only has a year to run on his deal at the La Liga outfit, who will play in the Champions League next season.

“My exit is very probable because the deal is finishing,” he told Sport TV in Brazil.

“If Sevilla want a sale there will not be any problems. Right now I do not believe it is possible to sign another deal.”

    Fabiano is a truly class act who i have watched many times for sevilla and is certainly worth his fee. Get him signed up Harry!

    18m is a high price for a 29 year old – within one year he will be worth less than 9m. I think we could get younger players of equal quality for a lower price. No thanks. I doubt that Levy would relax his policy of signing younger players for this guy.

    absolutely no way will Levy sanction a bid that high, in fact I wouldn't expect Levy to bid more than £10m for a player soon to be 30 years old…it was never going to happen and I can't see anything to support this story or to suggest we are interested..the usual made up nonsense, just because Spurs are in the CL and we are looking for a top striker

    @TonyTott…agreed 18m would be much too high for a 29yr old. I just hope we don't sell Pav, he's the best striker we got and is real quality. If we do bring in another striker I like Dzeko a lot more.

    It would be nice but history has shown us that Brasilian striker do not adapt well to the English game. Considering his age (30 in November), and the remaining length on his contract, £18m is too much money, way too much. I'm thinking closer to £10m, but as this is a World Cup summer I can see why the fee is so high. He does have experience in the Champions League and Internationals but playing in the Premiership is a different kind of beast.

    TT I AGREE WITH YOU 100% GET REAL SPURS AND HARRY IF THIS IS TRUE DON`T LET IT HAPPEN , COYS WAKEN UP AND COME OUT OF THE EUPHORIA PARTYING OF THE FOURTH PLACE CELEBRATION`S AND GET THE REAL PLAYERS FOR SPURS , THERE IS A COMPLETE LOSS OF A SELL ON INSIDE OF A YEAR ON THIS GUY HE IS WORTH AT THE VERY LEAST 7/8 MILLION TAKING IN HIS AGE .

    29, what is that in footballer terms these days?! He's more in the Drogba mould than the Michael Owen one, his game won't be affected as much by age… I take it most of the doubters on here haven't seen this guy play a great deal because he is a beast – sh*ts on anyone we currently have up front. Brazil's powerful no 1 striker, amazing scoring record for club and country, loves the English physical style of football by his own admission and has said for several years that he relishes playing here… We're Champions League now boys, and if we want to stay there, these are the type of signings to make while we can – no big club in Europe can attract this kind of superstar for less than 15m, the prices get ratcheted up but the income from continued success justifies it. Oh, and by the way, top Bundesliga sources suggest Dzeko – excellent as he is – will be going to Chelsea so we might as well forget that one…

    I think the price is quite right, look at chelsea and torres 50M, fabino is as good as torres and we are only paying 18M bargin I think

Torres is worth 50m to Chelsea because the man has had 3 seasons in England now – you know what you are getting – he just needs to move to London – and he is STILL 26/27! With Fabiano he may not handle English football, or may not settle. Please take these things into account – age, no sell-on value, never played in England, no Brazilian striker has ever done well in premiership. If Torres cost 26m from Atletico at 22/23 years old, then Fabiano is should cost about 10m max – if he is as good as people make him out to be (every time I watch Sevilla on tv it’s Kanoute that impresses me – he was crap for us…). Even 9m is a gamble. I wouldn’t go for it. Not sure why a Brazilian would want to swap 4th place Spanish team (near beach and sunny weather) for 4th place English team anyway. Paper talk. Or agent talk. That’s it. In my opinion we need ONE new striker, sell one (Keane) and replace him with an up to 18m striker WHO IS 20-27 and has Champions League experience. I am sure there are plenty that fit into this category – he may work, maybe not – at least we can sell him and get our money back if it doesn’t work.

    Suggestions, Tony? It'd be a task finding someone ticking all those boxes and wanting to move to the Lane. Huntelaar perhaps? Though I doubt he could play in the same 11 as Defoe.. Which might not be a bad thing, he hasn't been firing for a while.

    fabihano would do lovley but im sure we will be able to negotiate the price of luis down abit more as we could be better signing Dzecko but dont get me wrong luis fabihano tops my lists any way, come on harry work on it !

    He's not a typical Brazilian player, he likes to mix it! He's also good enough to fire us back into the top 4 and will have at least 4 good years in him – those who doubt this can look for the evidence on U-Tube or whatever. Plus, his price will be pretty much covered by the imminent sale of Pav and Keane – who are not of the next level… Honestly, this guy is!
