“We will only let him go if we get an awful lot of money for him”

Newcastle United are being linked with a move for Tottenham Hotspur defender Alan Hutton.

The Scottish international is currently on loan at Sunderland, where Steve Bruce has expressed an interest in signing him on a permanent basis in the summer following some impressive displays.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has been quoted as claiming that Hutton has already spoken to Newcastle.  Hutton cost Spurs around £9million in January 2008 and Tottenham want to recoup the majority of the fee.

Redknapp said: “I think Newcastle want him as well. They tell me Newcastle are after him. I think you will find Newcastle are in for him as well. I don’t know.

“Someone has told me he has been talking to Newcastle. He is not supposed to be but he has, you know. We will only let him go if we get an awful lot of money for him, otherwise he comes back to Tottenham.”
