YOUR VIEW: Who would be your Spurs squad of 25?

News | admin | July 27, 2010 at 5:56 pm

This season Premier League clubs must register a squad of up to 25 players which must include at least eight ‘home-grown’ players, at the end of each transfer window.

We want to know who would be the 25 Tottenham players that would make it into your squad, if you were Harry Redknapp.  We’ve included some of the rules, below.

- Home-grown players do not have to be English; home-grown players are defined as those who “irrespective of nationality or age, have been affiliated to the FA or Welsh FA for a period of three seasons or 36 months prior to 21st birthday”

- Clubs can supplement squad with unlimited number of players under the age of 21.

- Changes can be made only during transfer windows, although in exceptional circumstances (eg goalkeeping injury crisis) moves could be allowed.

- Players loaned to Football League clubs cannot be replaced, but can regain their spot on return to parent club.

- Rules apply only to Premier League matches, not European, FA Cup or League Cup action.

- First deadline is 1700 BST on 1 September (24 hours after end of August transfer window).

Who would be in your Spurs squad of 25?  Have your say by leaving your comments below.

This is pretty easy for us considering we have plenty of home-grown players and a lot of players born after 01/01/1989.

This begs the question Who is Harry going to offload and who is he going to buy he said he wants three players. The three i think he is offloading his Hutton he was exposed in America for two of the 3 goals we conceded. Woodgate a medical right off and has lost Harry's backing and patients. Ohara who has not figured in America Taarabt who needs his own ball to play with . Bellamy is one of Harry's picks and Richards another the third is a mystery

  10. Beadle says:
Oddly just realised that the way that homegrown rule is worded would exclude Owen Hargreaves from counting as one of Manchester Utd's homegrown players (if there was any chance of him being fit anyway), because he started his pro career in Germany. An England international who doesn't count as homegrown. Weird.
  11. Neil says:
Can the under 21's actually be 21, or do they have to be 20 or less? This could be a key point with the likes of Bale, Sandro, Dos Santos, Naughton and Taarabt who are all 21. The current 25 are below, but you can expect a new keeper, defender, midfielder and striker to replace Button, Hutton, O Hara and either Pav or Keane. The like of Walker, rose and Obika can come is as unlimited under 21's.
