The Telegraph have reported that Celtic will demand a compensation fee to allow Ange Postecoglou to join Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
It is said that the Scottish club, coming off the back of their impressive treble-winning season, are aware of Spurs’ interest in Postecoglou and will not stand in the manager’s way if he wants to leave.
While Celtic are expected to ask for a compensation fee, it is predicted to be ‘significantly lower’ than the £9m they received when Leicester City signed Brendan Rodgers in 2019.
This all comes as The Athletic reported today that Tottenham are close to appointing the Australian as their next full-time boss, and will look to get the deal done in the coming days.
ESPN had previously reported that, because Postecoglou is on a rolling 12-month contract in Scotland, Tottenham would not have to pay any compensation to sign him.
However, it appears Celtic would at least be expecting a small fee, if the Telegraph are to be believed.
Spurs Web Opinion:
After the Arne Slot debacle, I’m sure Tottenham would not be this far down the road if they weren’t 100% sure about the compensation amount. It sounds increasingly like Postecoglou will be the next Spurs manager, and it will be announced in the next week.
