Harry Redknapp names Spurs star in his Premier League Team of the Week

Harry Redknapp has named Cristian Romero in his Premier League Team of the Week, following the Argentine’s performance at home to Crystal Palace.

Not only did the centre-back showcase his trademark no-nonsense Romero style of play, but he also managed to get on the scoresheet at an all-important time, putting Spurs 2-1 up in the 80th minute.

Romero has formed a formidable partnership with Micky Van de Ven in the heart of the Spurs defence this season and, although they don’t have many clean sheets to their name, they have performed admirably considering how open Postecoglou likes to play.

Cristian Romero makes the Team of the Week

Redknapp was impressed not only by Romero’s general play against Crystal Palace, but also the lack of a yellow card, which has been a problem for the Argentine in the past. However, Romero is actually yet to pick up a single booking so far in 2024 and we are already in March.

He told BetVictor: “Cristian Romero was superb against Crystal Palace and best of all, he didn’t get booked!

“This lad is a very, very good centre-half but sometimes I worry about his discipline. That was a good header he scored as well, from that lovely ball from James Maddison.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

Romero is quietly going about his business this season, but since that red card against Chelsea, he has been incredible. Once he calms down a little, he really is one of the best in the league. Not to mention those four goals he has added to his game this season!
