Pochettino makes confession about Conor Gallagher’s future amid Spurs interest

Mauricio Pochettino has confessed that he has no influence over whether rumoured Tottenham Conor Gallagher will stay at Chelsea beyond this summer.

It has been widely reported by a number of outlets that Gallagher is one of the players expected to be sacrificed by Chelsea this summer as the Blues need to raise a significant amount of funds before the end of June to ensure they do not fall foul of the PSR regulations (The Times).

It was reported by TBR Football earlier this week that the midfielder is increasingly coming to the realisation that he might have to leave his boyhood club due to the lack of a new contract offer.

Various sources have continued to name Tottenham as the favourites to land the England international, with Ben Jacobs telling The Tottenham Way Podcast a couple of days ago that he expects the Lilywhites to complete the deal for the player.

Pochettino has no say in Conor Gallagher’s future

Pochettino has now confessed that the Chelsea hierarchy will make the decision on Gallagher’s future and that he has no say in the matter.

When asked about the 23-year-old, the former Tottenham boss said (via Fabrizio Romano): “I am not involved, I don’t know nothing. But you can see he’s in my starting XI. Gallagher’s future is not my decision. It needs to be resolved between the club and Conor.”

It is an open secret by now that Gallagher will leave Stamford Bridge as Chelsea cannot afford not to sell him, given their financial predicament. Tottenham are sure to test the waters with an offer but it remains to be seen if the Blues would be willing to sell one of their young stars to their fierce rivals.
