Premier League club beat Tottenham to the signing of Antonio Nusa – Fabrizio Romano

Fabrizio Romano has reported that Brentford have agreed a deal with Club Brugge to sign Antonio Nusa for a fee in excess of €30m.

Nusa has apparently given a green light to the deal, although he will stay with Brugge until the end of the season before linking up with the Bees in the summer.

This comes after weeks of links between Tottenham and Nusa, with multiple journalists reporting that Spurs were in talks with Club Brugge over a deal for the talented teenager.

It was only reported this week that the deal to bring Nusa to N17 was on track and Spurs were confident of winning the race (TEAMtalk).

Even Fabrizio Romano said Spurs were pushing to close the deal as soon as possible in order to beat other interested Premier League clubs to the signing (GiveMeSport).

Brentford win the race for Antonio Nusa

However, it appears that Brentford have won the race for the Norwegian winger, agreeing terms with both Club Brugge and Nusa.

If Tottenham have any hope of hijacking the deal, they will have to get moving as Romano says it is now ‘time for formal steps’ between Brentford and Brugge.

Spurs Web Opinion:

This one has really come out of the blue! But if Brentford agreed a deal so quickly, one can assume Tottenham decided to walk away from negotiations for one reason or another. Perhaps the valuation was too high. Whatever the case, fans are not going to be happy with this one!
