Report: Micky Van de Ven injury update as Tottenham fans are made to sweat

Tottenham Hotspur will find out the extent of Micky Van de Ven’s hamstring injury in the next 24 hours, but Spurs fans may be made to wait a little longer (Telegraph).

Van de Ven was sensational in the first half of Tottenham’s top-four clash against Aston Villa on Sunday, but the Netherlands international pulled up with an injury shortly after the break.

Radu Dragusin was introduced for his longest Spurs cameo since joining from Genoa and barely put a foot wrong, but Tottenham fans will be hoping to see Van de Ven back as soon as possible.

Spurs made to sweat on Micky Van de Ven injury

The Telegraph report that Spurs will know the true extent of the injury at some point in the next 24 hours but will only make an official announcement if the centre-back requires surgery.

If not, Spurs fans may have to wait until Ange Postecoglou’s next press conference on Friday to find out how long Micky Van de Ven will be sidelined.

Van de Ven already spent a couple of months out injured around the turn of the new year after picking up a hamstring problem against Chelsea, and Spurs will be hoping it isn’t a reoccurrence.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Because his speed is such an asset, Van de Ven has quite an explosive style for a central defender. We just have to hope that won’t lead to a string of hamstring injuries, like you often see with explosive wingers. If surgery is required to fix the problem long-term, then Spurs should do it.
