Report: Paratici sees similarities between Spurs signing and Giorgio Chiellini

The Athletic have revealed that Fabio Paratici saw similarities between Juventus and Italy legend Giorgio Chiellini and Radu Dragusin, which is why he decided to take the Romanian to the Allianz Stadium.

Dragusin has had to be extremely patient since his switch from Italy to North London in January. With Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero both in exceptional form this season, the Romanian had to be content with a few appearances as a late substitute.

On Sunday, he got his first real taste of Premier League football, playing nearly an entire half after Van de Ven came off with an injury at the start of the second period at Villa Park.

The 22-year-old delivered a commanding display and looked completely at home, showing just why he is so highly thought of by many.

Radu Dragusin has been likened to Giorgio Chiellini

The Athletic have now revealed that despite his lack of game time, Dragusin has settled well into life at Spurs and has been enjoying his time in London.

The outlet also goes on to explain how Paratici, who still works on a consultancy basis at Tottenham, is a big fan of the player. In fact, the former Spurs managing director felt that Dragusin had similar characteristics to Chiellini, which is why he took him to the Old Lady.

The report explains that the Tottenham man also idolised Chiellini and that the Juve legend took the young defender under his wing during their time together in Turin.

In fact, the Bianconeri legend allegedly still continues to stay in contact with Dragusin and regularly messages him with advice and support.

To have the chance to watch someone like Chiellini operate from close quarters at such a young age would have undoubtedly done Dragusin’s game a world of good. The Romanian international certainly comes across as extremely mature and composed for someone so young.
