Report: Spurs make contact about signing left-back but are handed an ‘outright no’

Numero Diez report Tottenham have been handed an ‘outright no’ by Juventus regarding a possible deal for left-back, Andrea Cambiaso.

The publication claim that Spurs, Lyon and multiple Bundesliga clubs all contacted Juventus about ‘opening contacts’ for a possible summer deal, but they were all knocked back. Despite being told no, Real Madrid are apparently still keeping an eye on the 24-year-old.

Tottenham are looking at Andrea Cambiaso

While Tottenham’s first-choice left-back has undoubtedly been Destiny Udogie this season under Ange Postecoglou, the back-up spot appears to be up for grabs.

Ben Davies and Emerson Royal have both covered at left-back at times this season, while Ryan Sessegnon continues to struggle with injury problems at Hotspur Way.

If the Numero Diez report is to be believed, it appears Spurs are on the lookout for a new left-back to add competition for places on that side.

Spurs Web Opinion:

As much as I like and respect Ben Davies and Emerson Royal as players, I suspect Postecoglou will want to sign a new left-back and right-back that better fit his style of play. The old saying is that you need two good options for every position, and that is Tottenham’s job now.
