Spurs star says he wants a career in computer science after football retirement

Pape Matar Sarr wants a career in computer science once he hangs up his football boots, and plans to start lessons in the next year or two while he is still at Tottenham (Mirror).

Sarr has been a revelation this season under Ange Postecoglou, with the Spurs boss putting immense faith in such a young midfielder.

The Senegal international impressed in flashes under Antonio Conte in North London, but despite a coming-of-age performance at the San Siro, he was never rewarded with a regular starting XI spot.

Tottenham faced a tough away trip to Villa Park at the weekend and were struggling to create clear chances in front of goal until the 50th minute when Pape Matar Sarr showed his class.

After being set away by some beautiful play from Pedro Porro and Dejan Kulusevski, Sarr put a cross on an absolute sixpence for a charging James Maddison – a cross even Kevin de Bruyne would be proud of.

Pape Matar Sarr wants to be a computer scientist

But it appears the 21-year-old already has an eye on what he wants to do after his playing days. He told The Mirror: “Computer science is what I want to do after my career.

“I’ve done bits of research here and there in regards to the route I want to go down. I’ve not started with any formal studies because I don’t really have too much time. Within the next year or two I am going to start lessons. It’s not games I’m interested in, it’s the electronic stuff behind a computer.”

On Tottenham, he added: “We’re a family. Maybe my game does resemble the way a computer works a bit. I try to bring my football intelligence to the party, my view of the game.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

It’s scary how well-rounded Pape’s game is already at age 21. He has the engine, the quality on the ball, and the mentality needed to thrive under Postecoglou and I only expect him to get better over the coming years, especially when Spurs add more and more competition for places.
