Report: Jose Mourinho makes decision over future of £200,000-a-week star

Jose Mourinho will give Tanguy Ndombele one more chance to prove that he has a future at Tottenham Hotspur.

The Daily Star report that the Spurs head coach is prepared to back the club’s record signing to turn around his fortunes in North London.

The French midfielder arrived at Tottenham last summer in a £54million transfer from Lyon (BBC) and has struggled to make an impact due to injury and questions over his work rate.

Mourinho was critical of Ndombele’s first half performance against Burnley early last month in which he hauled the 22-year-old off at the break and singled him out after the game (BBC).

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher strongly backed the Portuguese over his comments and slammed Ndombele for putting in a ‘disgraceful’ performance against the Clarets after failing to sprint once in the opening half.

The report claims that Mourinho believes that the powerful midfielder who earns £200,000-a-week (Metro) will come good once he has had a full pre-season and settles at the club.

The Daily Star claim a source close to Mourinho said: “Jose believes Ndombele is a player of great quality. He will not ditch him.”]
