Fabrizio Romano claims Spurs hold interest in Serie A defender

Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur hold an interest in Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic.

Romando claimed that while there is interest from the North Londoners, he is not Jose Mourinho’s first-choice defensive target.

The 23-year-old has around 18 months remaining on his contract and is reported to have told the Serie A that he wants to leave the club.

Milenkovic is reluctant to sign a new deal with Fiorentina and will be able to talk to foreign clubs in January of next year over a free transfer.

Romano also claimed that Lille’s Sven Botman also a potential target for Spurs.

The Evening Standard claimed in December that the club are keen to bolster their central defensive options.

La Nazione reported just last month that a bid of around £23 million could prove to be enough to tempt the Italian outfit into allowing Milenkovic to leave rather than his him walking away as a free agent.

“Milenkovic is an interesting situation because his contract expires in two years. At the moment he doesn’t want to extend his contract and Fiorentina knows that he wants to move,” Romano told We Are Tottenham TV.

“Let’s see if Tottenham will go for him or not, but for sure he’s appreciated. At the moment he’s not the first choice, but he is appreciated.

“Also they have some rumours about Botman, so I think in the coming months will see. But at the moment these two names are interesting Tottenham for sure.”
