‘£175m’ – Pundit believes Newcastle could offer Spurs star £500k-a-week

Simon Jordan believes that Newcastle United could sign Tottenham striker Harry Kane and he claimed he would not be surprised if a move came to fruition next year.

It comes after the Magpies secured a takeover deal worth £300 million backed by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund (PIF), which makes the Tyneside club the richest in the Premier League.

However, the move has sparked controversy across the rest of the top flight, where the other 19 clubs are said to be rallying against the league’s decision to sanction the move.

Most recently, some of these clubs and said to be in the process of blocking Newcastle from securing a lucrative sponsorship deal.

Former Crystal Palace owner turned pundit, Jordan believes Newcastle will now utilise their huge wealth to target the best players in the world and claims their attention could turn their attention to Spurs man Kane next year.

Speaking on talkSPORT (October 18, 12:55 pm), he said: “I just had a thought. I had an epiphany. I wouldn’t be surprised [if] Harry Kane arrives at Newcastle next year. I’m serious.

“Newcastle come and pay £175 million for him, £500,000-a-week and sell him a vision like Kevin Keegan sold a bunch of people a vision 25 years ago, and got people to sign for Newcastle who didn’t think they wanted to.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Everyone knows Kane’s stance regarding wanting to leave, but he wants to win silverware, and that is unlikely to happen any time soon at Newcastle given they can’t spend carelessly. It just seems like a wild suggestion that will eventually go away when their transfer plans become more realistic.
