‘Spend the money now’ – Some Spurs fans react after Vlahovic breaks silence on his future

Some Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to social media after Dusan Vlahovic appeared to have ruled out the prospect of leaving Fiorentina during the January transfer window after revealing his aim to secure European qualification for the Italian outfit.

The striker has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur, with The Sun claiming last month that Spurs, Arsenal and Manchester United are all keen to secure his services.

Vlahovic is out of contract in the summer and club president Rocco Commisso announced in a statement on the official website in October that he had attempted to make the Serbian the all-time highest-paid player in the club’s history.

Vlahovic told Politika.rs: “I’ve said it several times so far. There is a good football story being made here in Florence.

”We have a good team, great players, great support from the fans. Everything deserves respect.

“Only God knows what will happen in the next period. My desire is to take Fiorentina to Europe, because we haven’t been in Europe for a long time. We’ll see.”

The 21-year-old has continued his impressive form in front of goal this season, having scored 18 goals in 22 appearances across all competitions for Fiorentina (transfermarkt), with La Viola currently sitting in seventh place in the Serie A table.

Here’s how some Spurs reacted to the news of the prospect of the club missing out on the prolific hitman during the current window.

Securing Vlahovic’s signature in January would have been a huge boost to our quest to finish in the top four and also give the club a ready-made replacement should Harry Kane depart North London.

If he becomes a free agent in the summer, Spurs may find themselves struggling to match the wages that other clubs would be able to offer the Serbian.
