19-year-old Spurs target ‘dreams’ of move to Chelsea

Football.London have dug up an old interview that rumoured Tottenham target Patrick Dorgu gave to Flashscore at the start of last month, where the Lecce star admits that he dreams of a move to Chelsea.

Tottenham raided the Serie A recently for one top young left-back in Destiny Udogie, who has been a revelation since arriving at the club.

It now turns out that the North London club are looking towards Italy again for further reinforcements in that area, with Dorgu alleged to have emerged as a target.

It was first reported by Tipsbladet back in November of last year that Chelsea and Spurs were both monitoring the 19-year-old, who is widely viewed as one of the best young full-backs in Serie A.

A couple of days ago, the print edition of Tuttosport (via Sport Witness) claimed that Spurs have already ‘initiated contact’ over a summer deal for the defender, who is thought to be valued at €20m (£17.2m).

The outlet added that the likes of Juventus, Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid were also keen on a move for the Lecce star.

Patrick Dorgu is a Chelsea fan despite Spurs links

It has now emerged that Dorgu is a Chelsea fan, with the player himself admitting as much to Flashcore last month and revealing his wish to move to Stamford Bridge one day.

When asked about the speculation over his future, the left-back said at the time: “I don’t spend that much time on it. There are always rumours and there have also been some inquiries to my agent, but right now I am under contract in Lecce, and then we will have to see what happens.

“I have been a Chelsea fan for many years, so of course it is clear that it is a dream. That’s not to say I can’t switch to other teams in the Premier League, but even if things aren’t going so well for them right now, it’s my team.”

Spurs Web Opinion

TuttoSport’s recent update did not suggest that Chelsea are one of the clubs plotting a summer move for Dorgu, with Tottenham potentially having a chance to swoop for him ahead of their London rivals.

Perhaps the Lilywhites will be considering signing the left-back and loaning him back out to Lecce, just as they had done with Udogie two years ago.
